US Democrats scrutinize Trump’s impact on economy with military and election actions.

Date:

Democratic legislators have put forth a resolution aimed at halting U.S. military operations targeting alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. They argue these operations have not been sanctioned by Congress and have led to fatalities without due legal process. The lawmakers expressed concern over the increasing number of casualties linked to the campaign, while questioning the tangible outcomes of the strikes. They criticized the administration for circumventing Congress and demanded an end to the military actions.

On a separate issue, Senator Richard Blumenthal voiced criticism towards the U.S. Postal Service regarding a new system intended to handle millions of mail-in ballots for the upcoming midterm elections. The senator highlighted that issues raised by a whistleblower about the system had not been sufficiently addressed. According to the whistleblower, technical glitches within the scanning system might cause entire batches of ballots to be mistakenly rejected.

The Postal Service responded by saying it is currently reviewing the concerns. It assured that the development of the federal ballot mail system had been conducted over several months and in compliance with court orders. Despite this, Blumenthal dismissed the Postal Service’s assurances, emphasizing the necessity for voters to have stronger guarantees that their ballots would be accurately delivered and counted.
