Northeast Braces for Major Snowstorm After Midwest Winter Blast

Date:

A powerful winter storm is forecast to impact the northeastern United States from Monday night through Tuesday, bringing heavy snow, freezing rain, and travel disruptions across several states. Millions remain under winter storm warnings as the system, developing from the Gulf region, moves up the eastern seaboard.
Meteorologists expect the heaviest snowfall between the Poconos and eastern Maine, where five to ten inches are likely, and some higher-elevation areas in New England could see over a foot. The National Weather Service has issued advisories across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the peak of the storm.
The storm follows a challenging Thanksgiving weekend for travelers, with widespread disruptions caused by an earlier system in the Midwest. Chicago’s O’Hare Airport set a November snowfall record, while parts of Michigan, Indiana, and other states also experienced hazardous conditions.
By Tuesday night, most of the snow is expected to subside, giving way to clearer skies on Wednesday. However, authorities warn that road and air travel may remain difficult through Tuesday, and residents are encouraged to prepare for significant winter conditions.
