Scooby-Doo! Gets a Live-Action Reboot on Netflix with a Teen-Centric Plot

Date:

Netflix is officially moving forward with a live-action reboot of the classic Scooby-Doo! series. The show will feature a young ensemble cast portraying Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma, and is being produced by Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are the showrunners for the project.
The plot will follow the teenage quartet during their last summer at camp. A lonely Great Dane puppy becomes the only witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, and the group finds themselves drawn into a scary case that threatens to reveal their deepest secrets. The series is described as a modern reimagining that combines mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense.
The series is slated for eight one-hour episodes. Its current working title is Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, though a final title has not been confirmed. Filming, which was initially rumored to start in the fall of 2025, has been delayed to an early 2026 start date.
This new series aims to be a fresh take on the beloved franchise, offering a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary storytelling. The focus on the gang’s origins and a more supernatural-tinged mystery is a new direction. Fans are eagerly awaiting casting announcements, especially for the young Great Dane that will play Scooby.
